As we head into another few days of heat alerts everybody searches for ways to keep cool. Certainly this has been the year of the pool with so many home bound people. Pool companies are overwhelmed with pool installations and homes with a pool are a “HOT” real estate commodity.

Why do we call them we call them the “dog days”? It doesn’t have anything to do with overheated dogs lying around in the blazing sun.The ancient Greeks believed when the star Sirius, also known as the Dog Star, rose at the same time as the sun, a period of general laziness and inactivity ensued. Today the dog days are generally considered to be from July 3rd through August 11th. They sure have lived up to their “star” billing. Hopefully the summer doesn’t have any more nasty surprises for us.Image title
